Please note: Once a database is set to use Active Directory (or NT Logon as referred to in Workbench), only the admin account can login using Workbench credentials, all other users will need to use their Active Directory (AD) credentials, it is not possible to 'mix and match' login types.
Also, this process will require a restart of the Workbench services so please ensure no users are connected.

On the Workbench server run the Workbench Configuration Manager and click on the Aliases tab. Click the Alias you wish to change and click the [Workbench] button.

In the Authentication options section ensure 'Use Windows NT Logon' is checked.

If you still want users to provide their AD password when logging in, then check the 'Require Password to login to database' checkbox.

It is recommended that the 'Require password to authenticate decisions' option is enabled.

Click [OK].




Click the [Apply] button on the Workbench Configuration Manager and answer [OK] and [Yes] to the messages about restarting the Workbench services.

Log into Workbench as the admin user and go to the Personnel module.

Each users Login needs to match their AD login. If SMTP mail is being used, the users AD login or their email address can be used.



Now when a user logs into Workbench, their login is taken from the user account that is logged into the PC/Laptop, and if a password is not required the user just clicks the [OK] button. If a different user needs to log in, uncheck the 'Use current Windows login' checkbox and enter the AD user name and password and then click [OK].
