On the Workbench server in Windows Explorer, go into the Workbench\qwb_data folder and create three new folders called Backups, Batchfiles and Logs.



Copy the WBBatchFileCreator.exe file onto the desktop of the Workbench server and double-click it.



Use the [Browse] buttons to select the Batchfiles, Backups and Logs folders. If you wish to be notified via email of the result of the process, enter your SMTP server details. In the Databases section, left window, select the database you wish to backup and restore and move them across using the > arrow button. In the Server Details (read-only) section, the program has already found the Licence, Report and Config2005 databases; therefore you can click the [Create] button.



A confirmation message appears and you can click OK and then Close.



The two files have been created in the Batchfles folder.



All that is left now is to schedule the batch files to run in Windows Task Scheduler. The recommended schedule would be once a day (Mon - Sat) to Backup your databases and once a week (Sun) to Restore your databases. Please ensure the schedule for the tasks does not coincide with your nightly backup solution.



Important note for server 2008 R2 & Server 2012 users
 
Due to the way in which Task Scheduler works on Server 2008 R2 and Server 2012, there is one step that needs to be added or the scheduled task will fail to run. In the Task Scheduler Library double click the first task and click on the Actions tab. Double click the action to bring up the Edit Action dialog.



In the Start in (optional) field, type the path to the folder containing the batch files (see below), click [OK] twice to save the changes. Do this for the other task you created.
