Setting up SMTP mail in Workbench
Please note that this process will need a restart of the Workbench services which will disconnect all users. Therefore it is best carried out during downtime or out of hours.
On the Workbench server open the Workbench Configuration Manager and go to the [Mail] tab. Under Workbench Server Mail settings use the drop-down list to select SMTP Mail. Enter the name (or IP Address) of your SMTP mail server in the Workbench SMTP Host section. In the Workbench Server Mail settings section, check the [Send all Workbench mail using the Workbench server] option. Enter Workbench as the Login, and the Senders address as workbench@yourdomain.com (the email address does not have to exist on your domain). The Password field should be left blank.
[Apply] the changes, and when asked if you want the program to restart the services for you, click [Yes].
On the Workbench client, log into the database as admin (or as a user with access to the Personnel module), and then go to [Record | Personnel] and open a users personnel record. Select SMTP Mail as the Mail Type. Check [User receives external mail]. Login is the users Domain login name. The Address is the users SMTP email address. [Save] and [Close] the Edit User screen and then exit out of Workbench.
